Fire at Lund’s Fisheries

A fire was quickly extinguished in the roof of the processing plant at Lund’s Fisheries, located on Ocean Drive between Cape May and Wildwood Crest on Friday November 7th.



Election Results for Cape May City

Bucking the state and national trends, it was Republican all the way for Cape May City. Of the 2099 voters who came out, representing 66.6 percent of the total number of registered voters, 710 voted for the McCain-Palin ticket as opposed to 653 for Obama-Biden. Multi-Alarm Fire at Ponderlodge Mansion

Lower Township - Early Monday morning at approximately 12:02 a.m. local fire departments responded to a six alarm fire at the former Ponderlodge Golf Course, now the Villas Wildlife Management Area. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the former mansion engulfed in flames. Heat from the fire caused windows to blow out alerting [...]

Cape May, September 25 - Cape May’s Bank Street WaWa closed its doors at 1 minute after midnight. The For Sale sign was up and the windows boarded before noon.



Corea Sues City

CAPE MAY - Former city manager Lou Corea has filed a lawsuit in New Jersey Superior Court against the city seeking full payment of his contract as well as damages and attorney fees. Corea is seeking a jury trial and about $200,000 in remaining pay and sick time. His contract was scheduled to run through 2010. [...]



Cape May Reopens Beaches After Sweep

CAPE MAY — All beaches were reopened at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 after three syringes were found here on three beaches earlier in the day at Queen, Stockton and Congress streets beaches. CapeMayCountyHerald.com

The lilies are back at Cape May Point’s Lake Lily.

Due to salt water contamination, the lilies had disappeared for decades. A dredging of the lake a couple of years ago and a replenishment of fresh water has brought the flower back to its namesake lake.
